The Duquesne University Department of Speech-Language Pathology in the John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences is seeking a temporary full-time, non-renewable Visiting Assistant Professor faculty member. This appointment will begin in August 2026 and conclude on June 30, 2027.
This role provides leadership for clinical audiology education, classroom education, and individual mentorship within a dynamic, integrated program that emphasizes excellence in clinical training, community engagement, and mission driven, person-centered care.

Position Overview
We seek a Clinical Assistant Professor who will lead and advance clinical audiology education, with a particular emphasis on developing and expanding clinical programming in auditory processing disorders while supporting a broad scope of audiology practice. This faculty member will play a central role in shaping student clinical experiences, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring alignment with accreditation standards in the audiology.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical Education and Teaching
Provide clinical supervision for students in audiology within the Duquesne University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and affiliated community settings
Teach undergraduate and graduate coursework in audiology as assigned
Support student development in assessment, intervention, counseling, and clinical reasoning
Integrate evidence based, person and family centered care into all aspects of teaching and supervision
Utilize varied instructional modalities, including in person, telepractice, and simulation
Coordinate and oversee community hearing screening programs and occupational (OSHA-aligned) hearing screenings for the University, school screenings including student involvement, logistics, and community partnerships
Program Leadership and Administration
Assist the Clinic Director with implementing clinic policies, procedures and quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain compliant electronic heath records (EHR) and ensure that clinical equipment is calibrated
Oversee clinical training experiences in audiology
Develop, expand, and sustain clinical programming, with emphasis on auditory processing disorders
Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant community organizations
Monitor compliance with accreditation standards and clinical competencies
Collaborate with program leadership on strategic initiatives, including innovation in clinical education
Assist with student recruitment and orientation processes
Service and Scholarship
Contribute to department, school, and university service
Engage in scholarship appropriate for appointment and in alignment with expertise and interests, including participation in grant proposals, clinical research, and the development of new clinical programming.
Participate in professional service and community outreach/service events
Additional Responsibilities
Supervise and evaluate student clinical performance
Support client intake, scheduling, documentation, and communication processes
Mentor students in professional development and clinical best practices
Maintain effective communication with students, faculty, clients, and community partners
Foster a collaborative and supportive clinical learning environment
Applicants should be prepared to meet all other clinical practice requirements of the position including but not limited to professional development in supervision post-certification, health and immunization requirements, HIPAA and CPR certification, and state and national clearances.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Audiology (AuD) or PhD in Audiology
ASHA certification (CCC-A)
Eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure in audiology by the start of employment
