Position Summary:

The Adjunct OTA Faculty member in the College of Western Idaho Occupational Therapy Assistant Program is responsible for teaching students in designated areas of specialization. Teaching courses are assigned based on the candidate’s documented areas of clinical expertise and experience and knowledge of content delivery methods. The adjunct will be considered a member of faculty and will participate in activities related to program team meetings, and has responsibility for determining grades for course requirements based on course objectives and criteria as defined in course syllabi. The Adjunct Faculty Member works directly with the Program Director, other OTA faculty, and Department Chair, and is considered the primary instructor of record for the course to which they are assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Has active responsibilities with mentoring, advising, and instructing OTA students.
• Maintains clinical expertise for teaching OTA courses and labs. Must possess and maintain documented expertise in areas of teaching responsibility and knowledge of the content delivery method.
• Demonstrates effective changes to personal teaching strategies, based upon faculty and student feedback and evaluations.
• Participates in professional development activities and staff development in assigned instructional areas.
• Participates in program activities as appropriate, especially in orientation to course tools/requirements and team meetings.
• Strictly adheres to policies and procedures within the OTA Program, Department of Health Professions, College of Health, and clinical sites.
• Responsible for following course grading criteria as provided by Program Director.
• Must be a dynamic, passionate, and professional role model and advocate of the occupational therapy profession to students.
• Conveys by words and deed the values expected by CWI and the OTA program.
• Participates in orientation and team meetings as requested/required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must hold current license to practice occupational therapy in the state of Idaho.
• Must be initially certified by NBCOT as an occupational therapist (OTR/L) or occupational therapy assistant (COTA/L).
• At least an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant is required of occupational therapy assistants and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required of occupational therapists.
• Must be current in clinical practice. Must possess documented expertise in areas of teaching responsibility and knowledge of the content delivery method.
• Teaching experience is preferred.
• Must work well in a team environment under challenging circumstances.
• Willingness to collaborate with other programs and institutions.
• Flexible attitude in performing daily duties and responsibilities.
• Must hold a current driver’s license.
• Must hold a current BLS certification.
Must have current Pediatric experience
