PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr. Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Design and implement in real-time multi-tier, distributed software applications. Document, test, and modify technical specifications. Lead projects with other engineers, architects, managers, Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to design and develop innovative processes and create solutions that meet business requirements. Act as a technical leader within an autonomous, cross-functional, agile team and within PayPal in general. Build new APIs to enhance the portfolio of PayPal’s most popular service utilizing experience with algorithmic techniques, design patterns, web services (REST / SOAP), ORM (Hibernate), Spring, Unix, relational databases, NoSQL databases, GitHub, and Service Oriented Architectures (SOA). Design performance-sensitive system applications that serve tens of millions of requests each day applying experience working on traditional and non-traditional SORs from Oracle to Couchbase and Cassandra. Build and take operational responsibility for Java services, including Java/J2EE skills required and programming abilities in Java and other languages like Python, XML, and HTML. Be an active voice in architectural decisions for PayPal’s core payments system. Develop robust testing scripts/systems to identify defective APIs and install solutions in a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Lead engineering efforts, plan implementations, and rollout system changes. Participate in release management and on-call duties, and review recommendations for project or production issues and diagnostics. Partial telecommuting may be permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
