The Importance of the Role
The Patient Affairs Intern will gain unique exposure to the intersection of biotechnology, patient advocacy, and community engagement. As a patient‑facing function, Patient Affairs sits at the heart of Sarepta’s mission, providing firsthand insight into how rare disease drug development impacts patients, families, and communities.
As the team expands into new disease areas and deepens its patient‑centric strategies and operating models, the intern will support meaningful, mission‑driven projects across patient engagement, operations, grants and sponsorships, project management, patient science programs, and cross‑functional partnerships other projects as needed. This role offers a hands‑on introduction to advocacy in rare disease and serves as a valuable gateway for students exploring careers in STEM, biotech, or patient‑focused roles. The ideal candidate will leverage their interest in STEM, passion for making an impact, and organizational excellence to dive in headfirst into the rare disease advocacy landscape.
The Opportunity to Make a Difference
In this internship, you will contribute to projects that elevate the patient voice, strengthen operational excellence, and support impactful partnerships across the rare disease community. You will gain broad exposure across patient engagement, program operations, grants processes, and cross-functional collaboration, helping advance Sarepta’s mission to support patients and families.
Key areas of contribution include:
Supporting the Route 79 Duchenne Scholarship Program, including selection committee coordination, content development, and patient‑voice integration
Assisting with Patient Affairs operational initiatives, such as Patient Voice Events, metrics tracking, internal and external communications, conference engagement execution, etc.
Supporting Grants & Sponsorships operations, including tracking submissions, preparing committee materials, and responding to internal updates
Contributing to Sarepta’s Patient Science Center, SareptAcademy, through content generation, framework planning, and logistical support
Streamlining patient insights and identifying company-wide approaches to share actionable insights, including through the continued development of the patient insights AI platform
Attending department meetings, virtual community events, and a selection of other meetings for exposure to the drug development process and community considerations
