Our client is seeking a part-time Accounting Assistant (Xero Specialist Bookkeeper) to support the finance team. In this role, you will handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, prepare financial reports, and help ensure smooth financial operations. You’ll use modern accounting software, collaborate with a supportive team, and have opportunities to grow in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately manage weekly payroll processing, including timesheet verification and leave applications.
Oversee weekly superannuation payments, ensuring full compliance with Australian regulations.
Handle client invoicing and implement effective strategies for following up on outstanding payments.
Prepare and run weekly bill schedules, keeping financial obligations up to date.
Develop and maintain weekly cash flow reports to support business decision-making.
Manage accounts-related emails and client inquiries with professionalism and efficiency.
Compile monthly financial reports, including payroll tax reporting.
Support the finance team with a range of general bookkeeping duties.
Collaborate with the Australian-based team to ensure seamless financial operations.
Requirements
Proven proficiency in Xero accounting software.
Experience with Asana (or similar project management tools).
Familiarity with Employment Hero or other payroll management systems.
Exceptional attention to detail with strong accuracy in data entry and analysis.
Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines remotely.
Knowledge of—or willingness to quickly learn—Australian accounting practices and regulations.
Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a service-based industry.
Availability to align with Australian business hours.
Adaptability and eagerness to learn as the business evolves.
