What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Direct, manage and grow an engineering team responsible for chassis system design and development
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture, ensuring effective communication and knowledge sharing within the team
- Group scope - chassis systems are defined by the following groups – Brake and Steering design and tuning including ABS and ESC, Vehicle dynamics development and delivery, and all chassis component design and testing through launch.
- Develop comprehensive design and development plans (Chassis tuning, ESC/ABS, structural and complaint parts) including hardware, software, and overall vehicle system performance, aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Align plans with V&V to meet compliance requirements.
- Utilize multinational resources to effectively meet customer requirements
- Identify potential risks related to chassis system integration/application to vehicle architecture along with validation. Implement effective strategies/plans to mitigate these risks.
- Efficiently manage resources, including budget, personnel, and equipment, to empower team to meet goals
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
What you’ll bring

- Bachelor’s or Master’s/PhD degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in chassis system engineering and serial development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in an OEM/ Tier 1
- Very good technical understanding and sound specialist knowledge of overall chassis systems
- Excellent overall knowledge of vehicle technology in the areas of steering, brake systems, ESC/ABS, vehicle dynamics, and chassis components. Focus being a leader for American truck and off-road market
- Very good vehicle and design assessment skills along with chassis system knowledge to balance design and dynamics customer satisfaction
- Sound knowledge of quality management
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, a high level of assertiveness as well as entrepreneurial thinking and goal and result-oriented decision-making skills
- Leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams
