The opportunity

Our tax controversy services team uses an enterprise-wide approach with global tax risk and controversy management to prevent, manage, and resolve tax controversies. You will be at the heart of this effort. 

 

Your key responsibilities

Our global tax controversy network is uniquely positioned to help businesses with their tax controversy issues. You will be involved in all aspects of controversy management and dispute resolution including assisting clients before the IRS Exam and Appeals Divisions, penalty relief and abatement requests, and advising on Alternative Dispute Resolution. 

 

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Researching tax issues to develop effective tax resolution strategies
  • Translating complex data from a range of sources into client-ready insights and deliverables
  • Building effective long-term relationships with our clients, understanding their unique needs to provide a tailored service
  • Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients 

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor's degree
  • A CPA certification or membership in State Bar Association
  • Work experience in government or a professional tax organization dealing with tax controversy matters
  • 2+ years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization
  • Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members

  What we offer   We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $70200 to $115900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $84200 to $131800.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
