SUMMARY
Bahnson Mechanical Systems is seeking a Welder. This individual will follow all safety rules and regulations and work as a part of a team daily. The Welder will Certify to Bahnson GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick) welding procedures for stainless steel and carbon steel pipe, lay out, and fit pipe and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms in the mechanical environment, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lays out, positions, and secures pipe, parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
- Tack-welds or welds pipe, components and assemblies.
- Cuts pipe/workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
- Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
- Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
- Removes rough spots from pipe/workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper. Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment. Ignites torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
- Install pipe, fittings, hangers, supports, equipment, or other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
- 1+ year of related construction industry experience is a plus.
- Welding Certification by Bahnson is Required. Test will be 2-1/2” Schedule 80 pipe on 6G orientation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, and other mechanical, technical, or construction programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English. Spanish as a second language is a plus.
