Faculty: Physical Therapy Program Director

Position Summary

Concordia University invites applications for the position of Program Director in the Department of Physical Therapy. The Physical Therapy Department is housed in the School of Health Professions and is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This position reports to the Dean of the School of Health Professions.

Concordia seeks an individual who has a strong vision for physical therapy, higher education, and innovative education strategies to prepare physical therapists to meet the challenges of changing healthcare systems and collaborate with inter-professional teams.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

ACCREDITATION

Works with the appropriate university offices and representatives to maintain compliance with accreditation standards. Has the primary responsibility and oversight for the coordination and completion of all documentation related to the physical therapy program. Coordinates on-site visits and correspondence related to program accreditation for outside organizations including but not limited to:

• Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Association.
• North Central Higher Learning Commission of Colleges and Schools.
• Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
  • Maintenance of accurate information to the public regarding accreditation status
  • Timely, accurate submission of required accreditation fees and reporting data
  • Timely notification of expected or unexpected substantive changes related to the program
  • If necessary, demonstrates the ability to come into compliance with accreditation standards within two years

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

Works with appropriate university committees and offices to accurately portray the graduate curriculum based on the internal and ongoing assessment and review of the department faculty. In addition, ensure that admission requirements and program outcomes are reported to stakeholders;

• Implement, review and revise the Physical Therapy Program assessment plan consistent within the University's policies.
• Provide administration with outcomes data resulting from program assessment.
• Oversee and coordinate a periodic review and revision of the program mission, philosophy, goals, and curriculum.
• Facilitate and coordinate programmatic input from the advisory board, consultants, and program faculty.
• Review and revise all program policies and procedures on a regular basis.
• Oversee the development and review of program goals.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

Work with appropriate university committees, offices, and officials to establish and enforce program related policies that ensure the safety of faculty, staff, and learners. In addition, provide guidance to learners and faculty concerning policies and procedures including but not limited to:

• Oversight of the learner admission process.
• Receive & process learner complaints and special requests.
• Manage complaints from outside the program.
• Administer and monitor learner learning contracts.
• Enforce program policies related to learner issues and matriculation.

SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT OF PROGRAM FACULTY AND STAFF

Work in partnership with members of the core faculty to develop professional and personal goals that serve the faculty, program, and university to ultimately benefit learners. Oversee the ongoing needs of faculty development and performance.

• Facilitate an orientation for all faculty and staff.
• Supervise and serve as a resource to all faculty and staff involved with the Physical Therapy Program.
• Complete faculty and staff annual performance reviews.
• Monitor program course evaluations.

MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES

Manage Departmental resources to ensure program needs are sufficiently supported to carry out the curriculum. Work with the Business Office and Administration to establish an annual
