Intercontinental Engineering – Manufacturing Corporation is a heavy machinery manufacturer looking for a Quality Engineer interested in working with large weldments and machined parts (40,000 lbs. +) with an emphasis on supplier quality functions. Intercon fabricates, machines, paints, and assembles products for the commercial marine, defense and mining industries.
Requirements
This position regularly interacts with suppliers, manufacturing, engineering, and other peers in the QA department. Interpersonal skills are the key to success as this position regularly leads groups of peers from production and QC to complete jobs on time. Persons in this role must have a solid analytical approach to decision making and problem solving, and above all, be consistent in performance and decision making.
You will
· Work with multi-functional departments including production, engineering, project management, and logistics to quickly disposition supplier non-conforming parts and ensure timely and effective corrective actions are taken
· Lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Intercon’s quality, on-time delivery, and budget requirements
· Develop methods for receiving inspection, testing, sampling, and training
· Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
· Maintain supplier scorecard, quarterly supplier performance reviews, and supplier audits
· Ensure adherence and delivery of customer PO flow-down requirements to suppliers
· Manage requirements set forth in Intercon’s PPAP process
· Lead efforts to identify and qualify new suppliers
· Provide direction and priority as needed for the receiving inspector through collaboration with the QC Supervisor
· Create standard work and/or pre-populated reports and bubble drawings for inspections
· Lead and/or participate in reducing the Cost of Quality (Scrap, Re-work, Repair, and Warranty)
· Maintain active root cause problem solving activities to reduce claim quantities and costs
· Support inspection efforts and completion of Inspection Test Plans (ITP’s)
Ideal candidates would have the following qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in a related field with experience in a Quality function
· Experience with APQP tools
· Experience with PPAP process
· Experience with welding and machining of large fabrications
· Ability to read and interpret complex drawings
· Thorough understanding of GD&T
· Proficient using Microsoft Office products
· Willingness to learn new things
· Works well with little supervision
PhysicalRequirements
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time and spend extended periods of time typing on computer keyboards or other office equipment
- Must be able to read small print and be able to use a computer monitor for extended periods of time
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
- PPE is required at all times in the plant and yard

Compensation will be based on qualifications.
