Position Summary

Works to detect, prevent and mitigate safety risks. Provides subject matter expertise on field observations and provides consultation and guidance on corrective action development. Collaborates with and supports line of businesses (LOB) on safety issues. Communicates safety trends and recommends corrective actions. Serves as a resource for the development, implementation, and sustainability of the various company-wide safety initiatives.

Employee must be willing to work overtime during outages.

 

To obtain and maintain employment, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check for unescorted access to a nuclear plant, psychological screen, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening in fulfillment of federal requirements.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.


The hourly rate for this position ranges from $41.35 to $62.01.  

 

PLEASE NOTE: During outage work schedule will be 12 hours a day, 6 days a week and will be night shift. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts field and driver observations.
  • Supports accident investigation team as subject matter expert to help determine causal factors.
  • Ensures mutual collaboration with line of business and integrate in all levels of the organization in regards to safety (field employees, grassroots)
  • Communicates safety trends and recommends safety corrective actions.
  • Coach LOB supervisors on new safety programs.
  • Serves as a Safety subject matter expert for LOB supervisors and field employees.
  • Consults with LOB Supervisors on incident investigations, SIAP completion and corrective actions development.
  • May attend Safety Kickoffs or morning meetings with crews to discuss new safety information.
  • May support the implementation of companywide safety initiatives developed by others with S&H
     

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • Must have, or obtain within 1 year from date of hire, an initial level, or higher, safety professional certification (CUSP, CHST, OHST or equivalent)
     

Desired:

  • BA/ BS or equivalent experience, preferably in environmental health and safety, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or science
  • Safety professional certification (e.g., Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Management)
  • Solid knowledge of PG&E safety procedures and the Code of Safe Practices
  • Solid knowledge of Cal/OSHA general industry and construction safety orders and basic knowledge of other recognized safety regulations and standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA, Fed/OSHA, etc.)
  • Proficient at conducting and evaluating root cause analysis investigations and evaluating the effectiveness of corrective actions
  • Proficient at conducting hazard evaluations for complex jobs and recommending appropriate controls
  • Knowledge of job safety analysis
  • Knowledge of quality corrective action understanding
  • Knowledge of office and field ergonomics
  • Demonstrates skill in delivering clear, understandable oral presentations to groups
