We are looking for a talented Senior Machining Engineer to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Seymour, IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Optimizing Manufacturing Processes: Plan, design, purchase, and implement machining processes and equipment to enhance manufacturing efficiency and productivity.
- Achieving Manufacturing Goals: Determine the necessary parts and tools to achieve goals like setup reduction and changeovers, ensuring alignment with product specifications.
- Problem-Solving and Enhancement: Collaborate with engineering to identify and resolve product and performance issues, recommending solutions or enhancements to improve outcomes.
- Technical Product Development: Design, develop, implement, and analyze technical products and systems, contributing to the advancement of manufacturing capabilities.
- Equipment Evaluation and Improvement: Perform engineering design evaluations of equipment, document results, and recommend alterations to improve product quality and procedures.
- Mentoring Team Members: Coach and mentor less experienced team members, fostering their development and enhancing the overall team’s capabilities.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize continuous improvement tools and work cross-functionally to enhance equipment availability and capability, driving operational excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively across different functions to ensure seamless integration and implementation of machining processes and equipment, supporting overall business goals.

- Manufacturing Knowledge: Demonstrate a deep understanding of manufacturing processes by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
Additional Information:
- Position Overview: This is an onsite role at the Seymour Engine Plant campus.
- Self-Starter: The engineer must be proactive and take initiative in driving improvements.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of machining processes and CNC programming languages, with the ability to write G code CNC programs from part prints.
- CNC Machine Experience: Experience with Siemens and Fanuc controlled CNC machines is highly advantageous.
- GD&T Knowledge: Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure precise part manufacturing.
- Process Control and Improvement: Focus on process control, continuous improvement, and problem-solving, including identifying inefficiencies, implementing solutions, and optimizing machining operations.
