Job Description

Wilshire is seeking an IT Systems Engineer who is responsible for administering, creating, troubleshooting, and maintaining internal and external production systems. You must have an excellent ability to perform moderate to difficult technical and administrative tasks. You will be supporting the underlying technologies related to the Virtualization Plan. These technologies include but are not limited to Hypervisors, Load Balancers, Storage systems, etc. You will be working to enhance IT operations through automation instruments and process improvement. You should be an effective communicator, excellent team player, and able to participate in a 7x24 on-call support rotation.

What you’ll do:

  • Leverage your expertise with public cloud providers, infrastructure as code, automation capabilities and platforms to help support and deliver modern cloud-based technology solutions
  • Be responsible for successful analysis, high-level design, and delivery of cloud projects
  • Respond to questions/issues in person, via email or phone on all supported applications
  • Troubleshoot, research, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
  • Automate and script IT processes and functions where possible through code
  • Provide software and/or hardware system design, installation, configuration, maintenance, documentation, turnover, support, planning and systems management
  • Effectively communicate basic cloud concepts to technical audiences and management, technical issues and problems to vendors to solve cloud problems and install and test cloud components
  • Apply your technical knowledge as well as your soft skills to develop and deliver solutions for a cloud infrastructure platform that delivers secure, reliable, and scalable cloud services
  • Use your problem-solving skills and communicate with all levels of the organization, leveraging excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Implement proactive health checks and internal audits to ensure comprehensive and reliable monitoring coverage
  • Creatively identify and passionately pursue opportunities for self-improvement of technical and non-technical skills
  • Articulate and advocate new cloud technical and non-technical ideas within the team
  • Participate in the 24x7 on-call rotation schedule

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of IT experience in a mid-size enterprise environment
  • Technical certifications of varying complexity or disciplines in Azure, AWS
  • Excellent experience with enterprise level concepts and implementations including cloud technologies, network/datacenter topologies, enterprise single sign-on experience, web interface, application troubleshooting
  • Must have attention to detail and excellent ability to prioritize tasks as well as high performance and standards as demonstrated by academic or previous job experience and knowledge of microservices, and compute scaling
  • Thorough understanding of the specific security challenges posed by public cloud technologies.
  • Excellent proficiency with MS office applications, Operating System MS and Microsoft Server
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills, problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Must have excellent understanding of most of the following - AD, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, GPO, RDS, IIS, ACLs, Linux, Apache
  • Significant hands-on advanced level of engineering experience with excellent Microsoft and related technologies experience including DHCP, Active Directory, Registry, GPO, DNS
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and teamwork skills
  • Excellent ability to collaborate with all levels of IT and business management
  • Excellent proficiency in one or more coding languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform)
  • Experience in administering VMs and Containers using platforms such as Docker, Vagrant, Kubernetes
  • Advanced understanding of the specific security challenges posed by public cloud technologies
  • Advanced understanding of cloud technologies, cloud platform operations and cloud governance with a focus on automation,
