About the role
As a Senior Sustainability Project manager, within UL’s Asset and Sustainability Performance division, you will be working on various green building, health and wellness certifications and sustainability projects. In this role you will:
- Consult and manage based on experience and technical knowledge on multiple types of projects including commercial, governmental and residential buildings
- Assist with ongoing and future sustainability projects from inception to close out, including feasibility assessments
- Manage client relationships; reporting budgeting and time management; and in time provide internal training as the Team grows
- Lead clients, external and internal team meetings
- Manage project tasks with minimal oversight using strong time management to deliver quality projects to clients
- Provide team support, guidance and coaching to more junior team members
- Develop, author and review project deliverables such as calculators, memos and technical reports
- Typical projects will include, but not limited to, LEED certification, WELL building certification, BREEAM assessment, Fitwel, and GRESB.
- Occasional travel may be required

- Bachelor Degree in Architecture or Engineering or related field
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in sustainability project management
- Proven track record of implementing sustainability, health and wellness programs such as LEED, WELL, FITWEL, and/or BREEAM
- LEED AP, 1+ year working as a LEED project manager or administrator (preferred)
- WELL AP, Fitwel Ambassador, BREEAM Assessor and experience with (preferred)
- Familiar with Energy Star (preferred)
- Excellent ability to manage multiple, complex projects, simultaneously; and adaptable to shifting priorities
- Ability to facilitate team and client meetings and manage project tasks with minimal oversight
- Strong oral and written communication skills as this role will frequently interact with all levels of the organization as well as external stakeholders
- Demonstrate proactivity and a drive to learn and improve
- Strong strategic, analytical, communication and decision-making skills
- Enjoy problem solving and can work effectively with multiple, simultaneous requests from team members and clients
- Flexibility to accommodate traveling and site visits occasionally
- Ability to build positive and effective relationships with internal teams across all functions
- Ensure our CRM (SalesForce.com) is kept up to date, including (but not limited to):
- Client information
- Customer relations/activity
- Report time and expenses in a timely manner
- Foster a culture of environmental sustainability through ongoing internal and external communications and education
- May manage the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance
- Attend and present at all local major industry events and conferences
