Summary
The Financial Services Associate is responsible for ensuring that all prospective and enrolled students receive timely, accurate, and compliant information throughout the financial aid process.
The Financial Services Associate meets with applicants and students regarding their eligibility for federal financial aid programs by calculating anticipated awards in PELL, AGI, Stafford/Direct and supplementary loans, and other Title IV and non-Title IV programs. The Financial Services Associate packages and awards
all Title IV and non-Title IV aid for each academic year and enters this in the Student Information Systems as required. All work is performed within the established governmental regulations and institutional procedures. A high level of ethics is required in the counseling of students.
The Financial Services Associate works primarily with students interested in one of San Joaquin Valley College’s core programs. These programs typically start every 5 to 16 weeks and can include onsite, blended, and fully online certificate and degree programs, as well as degree completion programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide overviews of the Financial Aid process and programs available to qualifying students and create financial estimates based on the prospective student’s unique eligibility.
- Meet with students regarding the cost of attendance, Financial Aid eligibility, options for covering their educational expenses, and management of financial responsibilities.
- Create and schedule financial plans for enrolled students and assist with collecting and evaluating required financial aid paperwork and award information.
- Exhibits a sense of urgency to follow up with students through the financial aid process and ensure the collection of information and documents required before starting classes.
- Meet or exceed all performance metrics and individual production goals.
- Partners daily with the Enrollment team to ensure students are making the appropriate steps towards completing financial aid and enrollment steps before their program begins.
- Attend various meetings to support the financial responsibility of our students. Enhance the financial literacy of our students and graduates to ensure financial responsibility and professional success.
- Uphold Title IV, state, military, VA and institutional knowledge and compliance.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues and leaders across the College.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing outstanding customer support services while achieving or exceeding performance goals.
- Ensures timely response to requests and directives
- Engages with the entire College Campus community, cross-departmental meetings, events and activities as appropriate.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
