Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the positions of Intake Clinician and Admissions Coordinator, including hiring, evaluation and assigning responsibilities.
- Assist in maintaining resident census and payor mix and meeting annual census and revenue goals.
- Trains/ monitors relevant personnel on admission process and procedures.
- Guide families through the admission process including discussion of financial expectation / financial assistance and describe fee structure.
- Gather admission-related materials such as medical and treatment records.
- Communicate with prospective residents, their family and referral source regarding admission status.
- Manage process of financial assistance, including coordination with financial review institution. Provides clinical reviews for Financial Assistance Committee.
- Conduct initial pre-admission screening and face-to-face interviews (both local and out of town); research, collects, and compiles all relevant information and documentation relating to the admission process for presentation to Admissions Committee.
- Notify Resident Benefits Coordinator of benefit status prior to admission.
- Participate in Admissions Committee meetings and provides accurate assessments regarding the appropriateness of the applicant for service.
- Inform and consult with the clinical team regarding incoming resident’s conditions and needs.
- Gain support and approval from Medical Director and Director of Clinical Services for all incoming admissions.
- Serve as tertiary backup for incoming admissions inquiries.
- Serve as tertiary backup in facilitating the actual day of admission process.
- Assist in establishing strong and effective external relationships with community-based entities relating to referral development, admissions, and potential partnership programs and services.
- Maintain database of former residents and their families.
- As needed, conducts on-site tours / visits for prospective residents, families, and referral sources.
- Participate in marketing events and activities as assigned.
- Serve as a liaison to community mental health authorities to contract individual services.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social work or related field.
- 5 years relevant experience and extensive experience with assessment of patients with mental illness will be considered.
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Advanced ability to read, write and interpret documents.
- Ability to effectively utilize a teamwork approach with residents, visitors, families, staff at all levels, and external entities.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to utilize various computer software programs and implement systems to track contacts and admissions.
- Ability to meet the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs of residents with varying degrees of mental illness or disability.
