As a member of the Development team, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships will contribute to the site’s overall fundraising and relationship management strategies and will be responsible for securing and stewarding corporate and foundation partnerships at the $5,000-$100,000 level. Reporting to the Managing Director of Development, the Director will create innovative strategies to form mutually beneficial partnerships while also maintaining and growing existing high-level relationships with funders.The ideal candidate will be an innovative storyteller with experience building transformational relationships through diligent outreach and follow-up, effective written and oral communication skills, and a proven track record of meeting and exceeding goals associated with closing significant renewal and new sponsorships.
Job Description
Responsibilities
Donor Engagement
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Managing Director of Development to strategize, set, communicate, and implement all plans, processes, and goals around corporate and foundation fundraising.
- Research, write, and create grant proposals, letters, presentations, sales collateral, and reports for existing and potential corporate and foundation partners
- Develops strong relationships with corporate and foundation partners and prospects, keep apprised of their business and CSR commitments and identify partnership growth opportunities
- Ensure clear and consistent communication and collaboration with colleagues at the site and national level to engage them on corporate and foundation partnership prospects
- Communicate and encourage engagement and participation in City Year events, webinars, and initiatives for new potential national prospects; Coordinate engagement opportunities (e.g., school visits) to gain insight into City Year service
- Serve as the lead and seamlessly integrate City Year staff engagement to identify the points of alignment with the philanthropic commitment of the partner prospect
- Lead the concept development for the pitch with the goal to sell new sponsorships, maintaining/elevating current partnerships, and increasing the number of multi-year commitments
- Collaborate with National City Year network to develop multi-site, regional, and national sponsors.
- Collaborate with other departments to conduct grant compliance reporting to donors in a timely fashion
- Lead strategy to maintain and track a strategic moves management plan to direct and monitor the progress of donor relationships
Prospecting
- Work to broaden donor base by prospecting, identifying, and cultivating new donors, ensuring diversity and sustainability of site donor base
- Identify target renewal and upsell list based on previous funders
- Compiling and analyzing data of current and prospective funders to identify giving trends
- Work with the Development Team to research and power map top prospects.
- Contribute to and participate in regular donor pipeline meetings and the Board’s Development Committee
Organizational Initiatives & Site Support
- Work closely with fellow Development team members to understand priorities and business goals and develop strategies to meet the team’s needs
- Lead external relations messaging and social media promotion around corporate and foundation partners
- Identify opportunities to help drive corps member recruitment efforts and support for AmeriCorps
- Work closely with L&D and ACME departments to create mutually beneficial opportunities for external champions and AmeriCorps members to connect
- Collaborate with other City Year Detroit departments (RAD, Impact, L&D) to ensure that site-wide goals are met
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fundraising or sales with proven sales record, partnership development, communications, nonprofit, and/or client account management
- Experience stewarding a portfolio of corporate and foundation partners
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of Detroit’s philanthropic and corporate communities
- Ability to mentor other team members and clearly delegate tasks as needed
