We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated legal professional to join our team as Associate General Counsel, Regulatory and Compliance. In this role, you will play a critical part in building an internal compliance program and ensuring the company's adherence to regulatory requirements and compliance standards, particularly with respect to data privacy, data protection, export controls and sanctions programs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both federal, state and foreign privacy, data protection and cybersecurity law and government compliance and a strong understanding of the unique impacts of regulatory frameworks on cloud providers.

Your Role: 

  • Ensure compliance with global, federal and state privacy and data protection laws, such as CCPA, CPRA and GDPR
  • Serve as the company’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) 
  •  Regularly review and update internal and external policies concerning privacy and data protection
  • Assist with incident response and investigations
  • Support Company teams to ensure privacy, data protection and other regulatory compliance considerations are incorporated into product development, vendor management and contracting
  • Monitor and stay abreast of relevant global, federal and state laws and regulations affecting the cloud services industry and ensure company compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks, including with respect to privacy and data protection, artificial intelligence, export controls, and sanctions  
  • Develop corporate-wide global compliance policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to applicable laws
  • Proactively identify and communicate regulatory and compliance requirements in alignment with scaling into new markets 
  • Advise and act as liaison for GRC and GTM teams on regulatory requirements and provide legal risk assessments on the applicability and effect of the regulatory requirements
  • Review the implementation of controls and policies for compliance with regulatory requirements and provide guidance on how to mitigate regulatory risks
  • Provide cross team coordination to build and maintain KYC programs
  • Oversee and manage implementation of regulatory contract obligations

**Training and Education**

  • Develop and deliver enterprise-wide training programs to educate employees on regulatory compliance.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and incorporate them into training materials.

**Risk Assessment**

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify areas of potential legal and compliance risks, including data impact assessments.
  • Develop strategies to address and mitigate identified risks.

Your Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school and active Bar membership
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience with a focus on regulatory and compliance matters
  • In-depth knowledge of US and foreign privacy and data protection frameworks
  • Proficiency in export controls and sanctions regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $190,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
