Overview

The Assistant Director of Airfield Maintenance and Operations serves as operational and financial subject matter expert to maintain airport system as an award-winning airport in the aviation industry. Must have the ability to collaborate with all stakeholders to solve day to day problems with innovative solutions while empowering managers to use high levels of problem solving and deductive reasoning. Oversees the Dallas Airport System, which includes Dallas Love Field, Dallas Executive Airport, and Vertiport, and performs advanced and high-level management and supervision for all airfield maintenance and operations tasks to ensure security, safety, and efficiency. Must understand FAA Part 139/CFR 49 and city, state and regional rules and regulations.

Essential Functions

1 Directs, plans, and oversees the operations and maintenance of all airfields in the DAS.
2 Manages, oversees, and monitors all airside, landside, and regulatory activities throughout the Airport.
3 Manages airfield emergencies and weather-related needs for safe operations.
4 Manages multiple Senior Managers, ensuring alignment with overall Airport System goals to enhance operational efficiency.
5 Ensures the Runways, Taxiways, Runway Safety Areas within the AOA must remain in good standing with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
6 Oversees all vendors and oversees consulting services related to Operations Department.
7 Develops and executes departmental strategic plans aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Ensures compliance with aviation mandates and standards in airside and terminal operations, safety, and customer relations programs to maintain a safe and secure airport environment.
8 Develops and manages budgets for airside and airfield operations. Ensures efficient use of resources while maintaining high standards of service and safety. Formulates and communicates goals, objectives, and budget processes to align with organizational strategies and performance metrics.
9 Communicates, collaborates, and closely works with various managers to determine construction issues and maintenance impact on airport; works with managers and other personnel to limit effects of maintenance and repair work on the operational efficiency of the airport.
10 Develops and administers all internal departmental administrative directives and ensures policies, procedural processes, and standards are adhered to and effectively administered.
11 Communicates with the executive leadership to ensure coordinated strategies and effective use of resources; prepares and presents weekly business agenda, briefings, and reports and provides analysis and data research as needed.
12 Identifies, determines, and addresses areas of quality management to enhance productivity through improved work procedures and practices.
13 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1 Knowledge of airport operations, management, maintenance, and regulatory requirements.
2 Thorough knowledge of electrical systems on an airfield.
3 Knowledge of human relations and supervision including performance evaluations and recommendations.
4 Knowledge, experience and application of airport rules and regulations pertaining to airport operations, including Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and FAA regulations.
5 Ability to plan, assign, train, direct, and evaluate clerical/administrative, trade/technical, or professional employees.
6 Ability to negotiate contracts and contract logistics.
7 Ability to handle challenging, emergent, and complex situations.
8 Ability to speak publicly and communicate department metrics.
9 Ability to manage unit/program activities.
