The Richard W. Riley College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences (CESHS) at Winthrop University is seeking an energetic and engaged faculty member to serve as Director of the Winthrop Teaching Fellows Program and support Teacher Education programs in the Education Core department. The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program, funded by the State of South Carolina and administered through the SC Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA), recruits talented high school seniors into the teaching profession and helps them develop leadership qualities. The Winthrop Teaching Fellows Director will oversee a program serving approximately 130 undergraduate students in various teaching fields and will teach six hours a semester in the Teacher Education program. This faculty member will report to the CESHS Associate Dean for Educator Partnerships and Preparation, who serves as Chair of the Education Core department, regarding the direction of the Teaching Fellows Program and instructional aspects of the position.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee Teaching Fellows Program activities including seminars, service learning, and the summer enrichment experience
  • Monitor academic progress of the Teaching Fellows and program effectiveness
  • Work with Teaching Fellows Advisory Board to maintain program quality
  • Ensure compliance with CERRA Teaching Fello
