THE WORK:

  • You'll develop conceptual and detailed estimates for various scopes of work.
  • You'll direct and manage other estimators/estimating teams as needed; Train subordinate estimating personnel as needed
  • You'll review construction and design cost proposals and change order requests - assist with the determination of merit.
  • You'll review the labor rates and markups to ensure conformance to the contract specifications.
  • You'll review quantities and labor productivity to ensure fair and reasonable representation of scope.
  • You'll review the material pricing and validate against R.S. Means for other pricing references.
  • You'll review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes.
  • You'll establish basis of the owner’s acceptance or rejection of proposals and develop records of negotiation.
  • You'll reconcile contractor, internal and third-party estimates.
  • You'll proactively establish a routine reporting cycle that clearly communicates when an estimate changes and why.
  • You'll accumulate, evaluate and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates.
  • You'll provide coordination and liaison with project management personnel and other estimating resources throughout the estimate development.
  • You'll provide accuracy, reliability and completeness in all work products.
  • Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 20 years or more of general estimating experience directly related to both engineering and construction projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field to estimating profession

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

  • A master’s degree is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations
  • Demonstrated experience in getting independent estimates from vendors/contractors as check estimates against contractor proposal estimated costs and negotiations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices
  • Self-starter attitude with proved results-oriented focus
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess the ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication
  • Comfortable operating in a team-oriented, collaborative work environment
  • Produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a customer service attitude
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized
  • Demonstrated experience working on multiple projects at the same time
