This job provides nursing care, clinical expertise and education for an assigned patient population. Impacts patient care by improving clinical nursing practices through consultation, role modeling, and educational programs. Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers in the clinic and hospital.

Education

Required - Registered nurse diploma.
Preferred - Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing.


Work Experience

Required - 3 years or experience as a registered nurse.


Certifications

Required - Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Preferred - Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

  • Excellent leadership skills.

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Job Duties

  • Uses clinical skills and knowledge in the assessment of clients' health status assessment of clients' health status (physiologic, psychosocial, emotional, cultural and spiritual).

  • Integrates patient data to assist in the development of an individualized plan of care utilizing appropriate reference material (standards of care, triage protocols, policies, procedures, patient education materials, etc.).

  • Organizes, prioritizes, and implements interventions to promote patient safety and meets patient needs within the continuum of care (Hospital, Clinics, and Home Health) including: Pre-Op Procedures, Teaching, Appointment Scheduling, Prescription Refills, Results Reporting and Telephone Triage.

  • Provides clinical expertise in the area of practice; acts as a resource person to patients' families, staff, and other members of the health care team.

  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned area.

  • Conducts and ensures professional development and maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills training and credentials of nursing staff; participates in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

  • Performs other related duties as required.
