Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Global Physical Security and Safety to oversee and manage all aspects of our organization's physical security, employee health and safety, and Global Security Operations Center (GSOC). This position is within Okta’s People & Places team and reports to the Head of Global Workplace & Safety.  The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of implementing comprehensive security and safety programs on a global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement global physical security policies, procedures, and standards to protect company assets, employees, and visitors.
  • Lead and manage a team responsible for overseeing security operations across multiple locations worldwide.
  • Develop and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, national, and international regulations and standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess security risks and vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the operation and continuous improvement of the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), ensuring 24/7 monitoring and response capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, including law enforcement agencies, government entities, and security vendors.
  • Develop and conduct security awareness training programs for employees to promote a culture of safety and security.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging threats to proactively adjust security strategies and protocols as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring regular audits and assessments of physical security measures comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, allocating resources effectively to support security initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on security and safety matters, providing guidance and recommendations to the executive leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Criminal Justice, Security Management, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum ten years of corporate security experience, focusing on physical security and employee health and safety.
  • Proven experience leading global security initiatives and managing teams in a complex, multinational organization.
  • Strong understanding of security technologies, including access control systems, video surveillance, and incident management, and protective intelligence platforms.
  • Experience managing a Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) or similar command center environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to complex security challenges.
  • Security industry professional certifications are desirable.
  • Experience working in high-risk environments or industries such as technology, finance, or manufacturing is a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Location

This position is US-based and located within a commutable distance of one of our Okta offices (DC, Chicago, NY, SF, Bellevue) with domestic and international travel required.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.
