Senior Staff Research Specialist

We are hiring a senior staff research specialist with deep expertise in developing system level simulators, to become a key expert for our 6G simulator development efforts, supporting Nokia's 3GPP research and standardization. 

• Analyze system designs and performance by simulation studies, and provide associated technical recommendations and reports for 5G and 6G evolution
• Support less experienced simulator developers, and help them to grow to future simulation experts
• Help in maintaining software development processes, ensuring code quality and up-to-date documentation.
• Develop new features for Nokia in-house simulation platforms used by significant number of researchers.
• Dissemination of analysis and results internally and in prestigious conferences and journals

Your skills and experience

• Proven skills in C++ development, Python skills considered as an asset.
• Significant experience with advanced simulations including event driven simulators, and the associated steps from modeling, implementation, execution of simulations, results analysis, and communication of performance results.
• Deep understanding of mathematical modeling of radio systems
• Experience in simulator architect role / or equivalent technical leadership experience
• Experience in software development in large multiuser software development projects and related tools (e.g. Git, JIRA, ...)
• Knowledge of 3GPP RAN specifications such as LTE and 5G NR
• MSc or PhD preferably from the field of telecommunications but also other fields like electronics, computer science, mathematics or physics are considered

 

It would be nice if you also had:

• Experience in parallel computing
• Capability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks 
• Understanding of AI/ML techniques will be a plus
• Experience of Continuous Integration (CI) Testing (e.g. Jenkins)
• Fluent with Linux environment
• Ability to conduct both independent research as well as being a good collaborator working as part of team, including virtual multi-site teams.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to details, including abilities to address complicated problems, division of those into manageable sub-problems, and related problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, you can express yourself fluently in English
