Mail Printing / Inserting Team Lead – Mail Print/Insert Operations

The Mail Printing / Insert Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor and leading production operators to accomplish daily production quotas. Also, maintaining digital printing equipment to produce high-quality transactional mail pieces and mail inserter machinery. This role involves managing the entire printing process, from receiving print files to final product inspection, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee production operations at the direction of management.
- Prepare presort mail for daily pickup and backup truck loading operations as needed.
- Create, maintain and communicate SOP (standards of procedure) documentation and train production operators when new procedures are implemented.
- Maintain inventory levels and order weekly production supplies.
- Receive and unload production supplies from inbound trucks and organize warehouse inventory.
- Bring supplies from warehouse to floor to accommodate daily production.
- Document production volume data for daily, weekly and monthly spreadsheet reporting.
- Work with other department team leads and management for staffing as needed to accommodate production deadlines.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Comply with company policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related duties requested by anyone authorized to give instructions or assignments.
- Backup production printing and mail inserting operators:
- Operate digital printing machines and high-speed mail inserting equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot problems with printing and inserting machinery and initiate vendor service calls as needed.
- Review production job orders and set up and configure machinery according to job specifications.
- Maintain quality of production and monitor operations to remove waste and increase efficiency.
- Conduct quality checks on printed materials and inserted materials to ensure compliance with client requirements and company standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production and quality control activities and report any defects or issues to management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ years of experience in production operations and machine operator experience is required.
- 2+ years previous experience as a team or shift leader, lead operator or quality inspection strongly preferred
- Ability to lift fifty pounds and push/pull heavy load bearing carts, use hand tools, pallet jacks, and forklift are required
- Must be able to read and write, perform math, and communicate through written and verbal correspondence
- Microsoft applications knowledge: Word and Excell (spreadsheets) is a plus.
- Warehouse experience, safety awareness, and forklift experience are a plus.
- Position requires frequent standing, walking, crouching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and using repetitive motions of hands or wrists; finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with arms and hands for extended period- minimal sitting.
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven position requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong diligence and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues.
- Good organizational and time management skill
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
