Examples of duties

This position supports the maintenance of hospital grounds and facilities through outdoor work, equipment operation, and general labor tasks. As a Semi-Skilled Laborer, you will perform the following duties:

• Grounds Care: Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, walkways, and outdoor areas
• Snow Removal: Clear snow and ice from walkways, ramps, docks, and steps during winter months
• Equipment Handling: Operate lawn equipment, hand tools, chain saws, and snow blowers as assigned
• Furniture Hauling: Load, unload, deliver, and store furniture and equipment throughout the facility
• Labor Assistance: Support skilled trades staff with digging trenches, mixing mortar, cleaning drains, and other manual tasks
• Waste Transport: Perform pickup and delivery of infectious waste according to facility procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

• You must be in possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: 

• A conditional offer of employment will require medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
