The F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) leads life-cycle management of the F-35 Lightning II, the fifth-generation joint strike fighter serving the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, Cooperative Program Partners (CPP), and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers across multiple classification levels.

Support includes Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Special Access Programs (SAP), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). The F-35 JPO Security Directorate provides full-spectrum, multi-disciplined security support to protect F-35 technology and information across the enterprise and throughout the acquisition and sustainment lifecycle, spanning Continental United States (CONUS) and overseas operations globally.

The role of the Security Specialist – General (Senior) is to provide SME-level guidance and senior-level interface across general security functions spanning multiple security disciplines for the F-35 JPO Security Directorate, addressing topics and issues that cut across or extend beyond a single security discipline:

  • Provide multi-disciplined security support across General Security (GENSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), Personnel Security (PERSEC), and Physical Security (PHYSEC) disciplines as required

  • Perform risk management and risk analysis to evaluate security threats and vulnerabilities across applicable security disciplines; provide the F-35 JPO Security Director with options and resource requirements to implement mitigations

  • Analyze security-related processes, procedures, and policies; notify F-35 JPO Security of issues and recommend corrective actions

  • Communicate and interact effectively in writing and orally with colleagues, counterparts, senior officials in U.S. and foreign government military and civilian agencies, and representatives of diverse cultures

  • Maintain working knowledge and demonstrated experience executing a multi-disciplined security program spanning all classification levels, including CUI, collateral, SAP, NATO, and SCI
