BR&T is seeking motivated and talented Associate Materials and Processes Engineer - Finishes, Coatings and Chemical Processing specializing in chemical processing, corrosion, and aircraft finishing systems to join our team located at the Boeing facility in Berkeley, Missouri. 

The position offers a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities including specification authoring and maintenance and production support to the 777X and T-7A programs in St. Louis, Missouri for finishes and coatings. The position will be responsible for such processes and technologies on these programs including plating, paint, sealing, corrosion protection and chemical analysis.  

The successful candidates will be: energetic; driven; able to work independently and in a team; and able to work guide completion of special projects. The candidates will possess knowledge in corrosion principals, design concepts and techniques related to finishing systems, chemical laboratory equipment, fuels, lubricants, inorganic chemicals, qualification and analysis methods.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Author and revise material or process specifications
  • Environmental protection methods and requirements
  • Investigation of corrosion reports, recommending design changes to reduce corrosion impacts, address corrosion related inquiries around materials, processes and equipment
  • Support non-conformances, fleet impact assessments, notice of escapees, corrosion action
  • Review and approve suppliers to chemical processing methods
  • Analyze failures, conduct failure analysis, lead process improvements or initiatives to finishing systems
  • Interface with government, external and internal customers
  • Review and approve documents and drawings for finishing requirements
  • Perform production acceptance and/or qualification of materials
  • Production and development support of Boeing St. Louis aircraft programs
  • Assist or lead in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location above.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 1+ years’ experience in aerospace or automotive paint application, paints and coatings, and/or inorganic chemical processes

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in aerospace or automotive paint application, paints and coatings, and/or inorganic chemical processes
  • Experience with aerospace coatings and/or finishing systems
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Ceramics Engineering, Material Science or Chemistry.  

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
