About The Team:

The Engineering Enablement team works collaboratively with teams across the organization to drive product initiatives and platform projects forward. By setting the standard of what’s possible, the Engineering Enablement team pushes the boundaries and helps teams deliver unique experiences to our customers in new and exciting ways. Working with teams on major projects and initiatives, the Engineering Enablement team offers the ability to work on many projects across the engineering organization and make an impact at a global scale.

About You:

As the ideal candidate for the Staff Software Engineer role on our Engineering Enablement team, you should have a strong technical background and be experienced in developing scalable, performant product experiences used by millions. You are an effective leader, able to lead projects, and drive change across teams. You want to help shape and build the world of anime streaming and are able to take on complex challenges. Capable of being both strategic and hands-on, designing architectures and implementing them alongside teams. You excel in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve product initiatives and platform projects.

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years as a software engineer working as a full-stack engineer on cloud-based systems
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and its configuration (AWS, GCP)
  • Familiarity with code design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with automated testing principles and best-practices
  • Understanding of SQL or NoSQL data stores and their applications
  • Strong experience with building highly scalable microservices
  • Experience with building web based applications using modern web frameworks like React
  • Significant experience mentoring and coaching other engineers
  • Ability to transform complex business problems into simple elegant technical solutions
  • Define both short term and long term technical strategies for your team
  • Significant experience using common development tools (Github, CI/CD, etc.)
  • Significant experience building services and components in Node/Typescript
  • You are driven and highly motivated to lead top-tier solutions with minimal guidance
  • You are able to adapt quickly to changes in business requirements and work in an agile environment

  • Knowledge of streaming video delivery, video encoding workflows, video origin architecture, and issues of scale for video delivery
  • Big data and payments domain
  • Key security concepts such as cryptography, authentication, authorization, security protocols
  • Golang knowledge

A day in the life:

As a Staff Software Engineer on the enablement team, your hands-on technical expertise is crucial in delivering large-scale initiatives alongside principal engineers. You actively participate in coding, debugging, and optimizing solutions while collaborating with engineering teams, product managers, and key stakeholders. Your focus on engineering excellence enables you to create efficient tooling, improve existing systems, and mentor fellow engineers. Your in-depth understanding of security allows you to enhance the platform's safety through tactical implementation of advanced tools, monitoring, and alerting systems. You work closely with operations to assess and integrate new infrastructure options, ensuring that engineering teams can operate autonomously. Your ability to dive into complex problems and identify the core requirements leads to innovative, yet simple solutions that have a significant impact on the organization.
