The Marketing Specialist will assist in developing, initiating and executing marketing initiatives and other promotional programs, including new product launches with the goal of increasing Markel’s presence in the insurance market while building revenue. He/She will be responsible for building brand awareness, delivering consistent communication and engagement with critical communities via social media and other avenues. Must understand producer and insured needs to create enticing marketing materials. Able to analyze, monitor, and understand assigned niches and targeted groups to drive purpose of marketing activities and appropriate messaging.

This highly dynamic role is responsible for providing outstanding marketing support to our wholesale business development and underwriting teams, throughout the Southeast region, including maintaining broker records, preparing reports, planning events, maintaining a central calendar, preparing presentations and other deliverables which are key to driving strong external brand presence. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively navigate resources, understand how our business is transacted, and take ownership of creative solutions which support our growth efforts. Strong communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and accurately are essential.

What you’ll be doing:

• Develop strong relationships and maintain constant communication with key stakeholders across business development, underwriting, product lines and corporate marketing
• Accurately maintain broker records, underwriter, and business development assignments in AMS and SMP
• Prepare accurate reports for broker meetings or internal use, using platforms such as Power BI
• Handle all details related to Markel sponsorships, plan and organize unique, memorable events for our broker partners
• Maintain local supply of marketing collateral; manage broker gifting
• Build presentations, branded e-mail communications, and custom marketing pieces that align with product growth strategy/messaging, and Markel brand standards
• Centrally manage marketing calendar, and library of documents/resources for our teams 

What we're looking for:

• 3+ years of experience in marketing or sales
• Flexible to travel when appropriate 20% of the time, which could be a combination of local/day trips and overnight travel in the region.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of increasing responsibility;
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and skilled presentation aptitude;
• Technologically savvy; proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
• Strong analytical, organizational, risk assessment and time management skills;
• Must be a team player that enjoys a flexible and spontaneous business environment.
