Garbage/Truck Operator- CDL Driver

 We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Seasonal Refuse Driver to join our team at our Alaskan processing facility. This role is crucial for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment by collecting and disposing of waste materials in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, possess excellent driving skills, and be able to work in varied weather conditions. This position is essential to our facility's commitment to environmental responsibility and operational efficiency during our peak processing season.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the position include the following:

• Operate a commercial garbage truck to collect and transport waste materials from designated areas within the processing facility and surrounding grounds.
• Follow established routes and schedules to ensure timely waste collection.
• Perform pre-and post-trip inspections of the garbage truck, ensuring it is in safe operating condition.
• Properly load and secure waste materials to prevent spills and ensure safe transport.
• Transport waste to designated disposal sites, following all applicable regulations and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of waste collection and disposal activities.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including those related to hazardous materials handling.
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance of the garbage truck.
• Assist with other sanitation tasks as needed, such as cleaning and organizing waste storage areas.
• Work effectively in varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, and cold temperatures.
• Communicate effectively with facility staff and supervisors.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Other duties to help support teams and entire organization.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or higher is required.
• Clean driving record is essential.
• 3-5 years’ operating a commercial garbage truck or similar heavy-duty vehicle is preferred.
• Familiarity with waste management regulations and procedures is a plus.
• Experience working in remote or challenging environments, particularly in Alaska, is beneficial.
