Electronics Lab Technician – Wiring Devices

We are looking for a hands-on Electronics Test Technician to join our Wiring Devices team in RTP. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and executing electrical tests, ensuring product compliance, and supporting engineering teams with laboratory operations. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for electronics testing and product validation.
Location: Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC
Schedule: Monday – Friday, on-site in the Laboratory
- Set up and perform electrical tests on wiring devices and related components.
- Assemble and adapt test setups and equipment based on engineering requirements.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions.
- Analyze test performance, troubleshoot issues, and document findings in reports.
- Operate specialized laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration.
- Communicate with customers and internal teams to ensure accurate test execution.
- Maintain lab equipment and perform routine maintenance.
- Contribute to process improvements and recommend solutions for test challenges.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Electronics or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in an electronics testing or lab technician role.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and basic automation tools.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
What you'll experience working at UL:
- Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $40,000 and $56,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
