As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Employee Experience, Workforce Tech, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. A Data Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of data systems and infrastructure within an Organization. Their Primary focus is on the designing implementing, and maintaining data-related systems to support the organization’s data needs

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Requires weekend support and late evening Weekdays support.
  • Works closely with data architects and engineers to design and implement scalable and reliable data systems. 
  • Collaborate on data storage, data processing, data integration, and data retrieval strategies to ensure efficient and optimized data workflows. 
  • Playing a critical role in ensuring the quality of data within the organization.  You develop and implement data quality assurance processes including data validation, cleansing & transformation techniques. 
  • Monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address potential issues with data systems. 
  • Implement data security by applying data security policies and conduct regular data security audits and implement data encryption and access control mechanisms. 
  • Collaborate & communicate with cross- functional teams, including data scientist, data analysts, software engineers and business stakeholders.
  • Seek ways to improve the reliability and performance of data systems. You stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in data engineering. 
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Experience with distributed data/similar ecosystem (Spark, Presto) and streaming technologies such as kafka
  • Experience working with SQL/ NoSQL platforms such as RedShift, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB
  • Experience with ETL Orchestration tool like Alteryx/Glue
  • Experience working with Python/Java
  • Working Experience with Data platforms like Databricks
  • Good knowledge of Cloud (AWS/GCP) 
  • Experience with incident management tools i.e. Jira/Service Now
  • Experience with Observability tools i.e. Datadog, Splunk, Grafana
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of reporting tools like Tableau, AWS QuickSight
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
  • Exposure to cloud technologies the next level.
