About the Team

We are looking for a Project Portfolio Analyst to join our Workday Finance Program Management team -- the hub for programs & projects across the finance organization.

We support the Workday Accounting, Tax, and Treasury organizations and are responsible for ensuring priority alignment, facilitating resourcing commitments, and driving activities and partnerships that result in achieving project objectives.

We love our position as the driver who helps finance teams see through their major project initiatives!

About the Role

In this role, you will work closely with our Finance teams as the administrator of the project portfolio. All projects that involve our stakeholder teams are currently submitted and maintained in Asana, giving all parties insight to the projects they are sponsoring and supporting. We anticipate transitioning from Asana to Smartsheet as our project system of record in the coming year.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • You will be a key point of contact for teams seeking to engage the PMO. By building positive relationships across the Workday organization and an understanding of the teams' project priorities and challenges, you will become the trusted advisor our colleagues know to call on for help navigating the process.

  • You will review new project submissions to ensure the timelines, project stages, problem statements, objectives, value information, and support requests are accurate.

  • You will facilitate resource alignment by working cross-functionally across leadership levels to help the requested teams understand the support needed for their project and will own the commitment gathering process.

  • A key responsibility of this important position is to maintain an accurate record of the portfolio: Ensure correct project status and timelines are consistently reflected in the Asana tool by managing the inbox for action items and working with each project contact to capture updates as needed.

  • You will support PMO team reporting by delivering timely, informative, accurate metrics and charts to contribute to PMO scorecard status reports or in response to other ad hoc requests for management reporting.

  • The position also includes opportunity for growth as a project manager. As you master the portfolio administration responsibilities of the role, you may also have the opportunity to serve as a project manager on smaller projects.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance or related field required

  • 2+ years portfolio, program, or project management experience required

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies

  • Strong familiarity with Asana and Smartsheet required; high level skill preferred

  • Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft and Google tools (Excel, PPT, Google slides/sheets/docs)

Other Qualifications

  • Highly organized with an efficient work style that includes the ability to adjust to accommodate priority shifts as needed.

  • Skilled at presenting to small and medium-sized groups and communicating / training on new concepts and processes.

  • Skilled at effectively leading cross-functional meetings.

  • Proven resiliency, ability to influence, to accept feedback, and to encourage collaborative solutions

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience creating clear, concise, engaging, audience appropriate written material.
