Job Profile Title

Research Specialist B

Job Description Summary

The primary duty of the Research Specialist B will be processing samples from patients from the Penn clinical practices (peripheral blood, bone marrow, serum, stools, biopsies, or other tissues). The Res Spec B will also maintain a rigorous database of these samples. The Res Spec B will also be required to run experiments with the samples using multiparametric flow cytometry, cellular and molecular biology, other techniques, and animal models (rodents). The Res Spec B will report to Dr. Ruella and perform additional duties as requested.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory research, troubleshoot problems, analyze data, design new research experiments along with research publications, and prepare presentations.
• Participate in lab management and help support lab set up and operations, oversee ordering, organization and maintenance of reagents, equipment, and protocols.
• Train and supervise other lab members as needed, provide scientific and technical expertise and guidance for other ongoing projects
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
