About the role

The Perlman Center is a specialty center serving patients with cerebral palsy, and similar neuromotor conditions from birth through adulthood. The Perlman Center provides evidence-based therapies in a group setting with a multi-disciplinary team (early intervention, pre-school, school-age, and young adult small groups), and provides a wide range of specialty assistive technology evaluations and treatment.

The Perlman Center currently has a team of 9 physical therapists who are based at the Mason, Norwood, Montgomery and Main Hospital locations to meet the needs of their patients.

The Perlman Center is recruiting a Physical Therapist to serve patients in our aquatics and group-based programs. Settings and schedule may vary for departmental needs. Patients typically require multiple skilled therapies and require adaptive equipment for improved mobility and access to their environment. The aquatic environment supports many individuals that have limitations for land-based therapy, provide families and their children insight on home exercise programs and positioning support systems, and assist with the rehab needs for our post-surgical orthopedic patients.

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday; Day Shift (24 hours/week)

Location: Montgomery, Mason

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Physical Therapy license in the State of Ohio
  • Experience in developmental pediatrics
  • Previous experience and/or interest in aquatics is highly desired for this position

The basis of pediatric physical therapy (PT) lies in understanding how a child’s motor performance develops, and how it is related to the child’s cognitive development. PT at Cincinnati Children’s focuses on minimizing the effect of injuries, disease or developmental disabilities on a child’s ability to function. Our team’s goal is to help every child, adolescent and young adult reach his or her full potential.

For children who face physical challenges, long-term disabilities or injuries, PT offers an opportunity for life-changing progress. Our therapists are specially trained in working with children who face developmental delays, neuromuscular conditions, and a host of other problems that affect a child’s ability to complete daily tasks. Our therapists use positive approaches and cutting-edge techniques to improve a child’s motor skills, balance, coordination, strength, and endurance through participation in interdisciplinary programs and aquatics.

Our physical therapists work closely with occupational therapists, speech pathologists, social workers, educators, physicians and vendors to provide customized care for their patients and families. The therapy process includes an initial evaluation, during which we assess the way your child moves, plays and walks, as well as potential posture or alignment problems and sources of pain.
