Job Summary:

The CU Anschutz Human Gross Anatomy Lab is used for teaching dissection based courses in the CU School of Medicine and the CU School of Dental Medicine. Students and residents associated with CU Anschutz professional health care programs use the Anatomy Lab to learn anatomy and conduct research using human dissections and prosections across five anatomy lab classrooms, a wet specimen collection, a bone collection, and a plastinate library. 

This position supports the Anatomy Lab Manager in maintaining the collections, equipment, learning resources, and facilities used by these educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain Anatomy Dissection Labs (35%).

• Perform periodic inspections of facilities and lab equipment, including humidors, hydraulic tables, surgical lights, and other moveable fixtures; report issues to the appropriate authority.

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as appropriate to mitigate health and safety issues in the lab.

• Clean, store, and maintain specialized dissection equipment and tools.

• Routinely assess supply inventory, place orders, receive goods, and restock supplies.

• Independently perform daily lab cleaning.

Distribution & Maintenance of Learning Resources (20%).

• Adapt and apply published best practices on the physical care and ethical treatment of human remains in anatomical education and research settings.

• Prioritize course requests for educational resources from anatomy faculty, staff, and students.

• Consolidate, distribute and clean specialized dissection tools and safety equipment before and after dissection labs.

• Consult with CU IT to maintain computers located in the anatomy lab and faculty/staff offices.

Assist the Anatomy Lab Manager (20%).

• Receive, evaluate, and prioritize requests for anatomy room reservations, equipment, and collections.

• Prepare and monitor a schedule of course-related needs and resources.

• Demonstrate personal accountability as a purchasing authority for the anatomy lab.

• Accurately review, correct, and submit hourly staff timesheets.

Turnover Anatomy Lab Between Courses (10%).

• Lead hourly staff in performing turnover activities.

• Transfer donors between SAB and dissection labs.

• Prepare dissection labs and other rooms for course use at the start of each semester and for individual educational events (resident training, outreach events, etc.)
