Position Summary
Sony Corporation of America currently has an opening for 3DCG Technical Artist in R&D US Laboratory located in Culver City, CA.
This position is responsible for supporting visual arts (e.g. Texture Art, Character Modeling, Blendshape Art) for 3DCG character pipeline engineering while closely collaborating with Sony’s global R&D researchers for Sony’s future entertainment business and services.
This is a 12 months temporary assignment.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with researchers, software developers, artists, and designers to create high-quality 3D assets and animation.
Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques to enhance workflows and improve final output.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and provide creative input for visual concepts and designs.
Troubleshoot technical issues related to 3D asset creation, animation, and rendering.
Create documentation and tutorials to share knowledge and best practices with team members.
Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
Required qualifications:
B.S. degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields.
3+ years of hands-on experience in 3D computer graphics (3D modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering).
Experience with photo-real CG content creation workflow in games, film or other entertainment industries.
Familiarity with 3D CG platforms like Maya, Blender, Unity, or Unreal Engine.
Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or MEL scripting.
Excellent communication skills.
Authorization to work in the USA.
Preferred qualifications:
Familiarity with rendering engines such as Arnold, V-Ray, or Redshift.
Familiarity with shader development and material creation.
Familiarity with rigging and character animation.
Familiarity with hardware/software architecture of multi-camera human 3D/4D model capturing systems, 3D reconstruction, 3D CG modeling and visualization algorithms, 3D mesh & texture cleanup.
Research and development skills, including the ability to stay updated on emerging technologies and techniques in computer graphics.
Familiarity with motion capture technology and workflows.
Programming skills in C/C++, C#, Java.
The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $110,000 to $125,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
