The Merchandise Planning Manager will be responsible to drive sales and profitability through inventory discipline across our E-Commerce and Retail channels in a thoughtful and strategic manner. This role will be responsible for forecasting revenue and inventory by product, buying inventory to support sales plans. This candidate will learn who our customer is and recommend ways to expand our assortment to fulfill customer desires.
This role will work closely with cross functional partners and channel leads across Finance, Supply Chain & Operations, Marketing, Wholesale, E-Commerce and Retail. The Merchandise Allocator will report directly into the Director of Owned Channels Merchandise Planning & Allocation.
6 Month Expectations
- Dive into and learn about the Glossier customer and all Glossier products through analysis of historical selling, current trends, and customer data
- Develop product performance recaps to be used on a weekly and monthly basis for monitoring business trends against expectations
- Develop product level revenue forecasts by channel for existing and new products
12+ Month Expectations
- Manage merchandise plan, inclusive of forecasting and reporting by category, franchise, SKU and channel, based on selling data, customer analytics, category dynamics and market conditions to inform inventory purchasing
- In partnership with the Director of Owned Channels Merchandise Planning & Allocation, develop assortment plan to achieve revenue and margin goals
- Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to ensure right levels of inventory are ordered and allocated
- Partner with Wholesale channel to balance inventory needs based on demand variations as well as conduct full inventory lifecycle planning including end of life
- Partner with Marketing team to align on pricing based on product positioning, meeting gross margin and revenue goals
- Collaborate with Product and Marketing teams to plan new launches, ensuring the right Buy to support financial goals
- Develop deep cross functional relationships and trust across the organization
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Merchandise Planning and buying in an Omnichannel environment with Retail stores and E-Commerce
- Experience in Planning and Buying/Merchandising
- Experience in Merchandising required, beauty experience preferred
- Analytical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills are crucial to success
- Highly analytical skill set and a proven track record of data-driven insights into successful tactics
- Passionate self-starter, decisive and able to move with speed to implement ideas
- Can operate with ambiguity, with the nuanced ability to balance profitability and Brand
- Strong project management skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and the desire to bring structure to undefined processes
- A hands-on, results-driven mentality combined with a high desire to work strategically
- A consumer focused mindset a must; Beauty and/or Fashion brand experience a plus
- A passion for beauty and Glossier's unique approach to beauty
In accordance with the applicable law, the following represents a good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum compensation range for this position:
- The estimated annual pay range for this role is $80,000 - $104,000.
- There may be future opportunities for continued pay progression based on continued strong performance in the role.
