JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Smeal College of Business, Professional Graduate and Executive Programs, seeks an Online Program Moderator / Technical Assistant to assist with technical planning and management before and during online Executive Education Programs. This is a part-time, wage-payroll position. Starting pay is $20/hour with anticipated commitment of 10-20 hours per program week. Duties include facilitating technical support for the online programs, creating and setting up breakout rooms in the platform (Zoom or Teams), working with presenters to prepare and deliver their presentations, and preparing/running technology for the presenter and keynote speakers.
Knowledge of Office 365, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, networking and streaming platforms, and business concepts preferred. The Online Program Moderator must be willing to learn about the operations and programming of Penn State Professional Graduate and Executive Programs. The Online Program Moderator must provide exceptional customer service, complete administrative tasks, and assist with online program execution. Successful candidates must possess strong technical and oral communication skills, work in a team environment, demonstrate a positive attitude, and act in a professional manner. Prior experience with Zoom and Microsoft Teams is a plus.
Typical Work Duties
- Ability to independently open the virtual classroom (on Zoom or Teams) for participant arrival when scheduled prior to Program Director arrival
- Greet the participants upon arrival to the virtual classroom and provide a welcoming environment
- Take attendance and alert supervisor or enrollment coordinator of missing participants
- Provide routine program logistics/maintain requirements or activities to ensure quality of programs
- Create and assign Breakout Rooms in the online program platform
- Start, pause, resume, and end session recordings
- Work with supervisor to coordinate necessary materials for the program and communicate status to supervisor
- Enter data into systems as needed
- Efficiently use all forms of electronic communications (basic software applications)
