Our HOME Youth Services Program offers a combination of services and programs for at-risk youth including a day shelter with drop-in services and an overnight emergency shelter. We provide a safe and supportive environment for both immediate needs and long term growth.
The Home Youth Services Assistant Program Manager directly supervises at-risk youth and assists youth in obtaining basic needs and navigating resources, while ensuring a safe space at HOME. The Assistant Program Manager will work under the supervision of the Program Manager to provide support for the Youth Navigators, Youth Support Specialists, and Lead Youth Support Specialists. They will help Youth Navigator's assist youth in our Transitional Living Program to move into Permanent supportive housing. This position will also help Leads and Youth Support Specialists with identifying and establishing goals and practical next steps.
This is a swing shift position. This position may work rotating weekends and holidays to ensure youth are receiving care at all times.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree in social sciences or related field preferred.
- Four years of work in fast-paced customer service, healthcare, education, social or community services or related public-facing sectors.
- Preference will be given to candidates with work experience working with special needs population and/or experience working with youth or high risk youth 11-18 years of age.
- Equivalent combinations of education, various experience and training may be considered.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
- Driver qualification status required for this position. Valid driver license and insured vehicle available for use on-the-job with satisfactory drive record for the past 3 years.
- Candidate must pass Oregon Department of Human Services criminal background check.
- Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES
- Prior training experience in the following areas preferred but not required: CRP/First Aid, Food Handler's, Mandatory Reporting, Privacy Laws, Trauma Informed Care, Suicide Intervention, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect. Training completion required within specified timeframes to retain active employment.
- Demonstrated experience working with the at-risk, homeless, runway and street youth population as well as community partners and social service agencies.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to read, analyze and articulate technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Must possess excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
- Provides support for Youth Navigators and Youth Support Specialists, under the supervision of the Program Manager.
- Meets with Navigation team weekly to review Individual Support Plans and participant progress. Helps Youth Navigators implement and build care plans by identifying action steps and resources.
- Assists in the onboarding process of new staff, including: sending out required training, tracking completed onboarding steps, and following up with staff to complete any missing tasks related to onboarding.
- Facilitates and provides support for staff when Program Manager is off-duty.
- Ensures continuity of program management standards in the Program Manager's absence.
- Helps coordinate staff scheduling in the absence of the Program Manager. May approve minor scheduling adjustments as needed.
- Completes any DHS paperwork in regards to investigations and reporting requirements.
