Job Duties

The Director for Student Conduct provides strategic leadership, oversight, and administration of the University’s student conduct system to ensure fair, equitable, and legally compliant resolution of alleged policy violations. The position ensures alignment with institutional mission, federal and state regulatory requirements, and best practices in higher education conduct administration. The Director oversees case resolution processes, hearing operations, conducts data management systems, and educational initiatives that promote accountability, student development, and community well-being. The role also
serves as a key advisor to the Dean for Students on behavioral risks, compliance, and trends in student accountability

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Experience, Licensure, or Certification required for entry into position:
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Public Administration, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or
a closely related field
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
• 5–7 years progressive experience in student conduct, student affairs case management, or related compliancedriven higher education functional area
• Demonstrated experience conducting hearings, investigations, or administrative adjudications
• Supervisory or team leadership experience
Required Technical / Regulatory Exposure
• Experience interpreting and applying university policy and regulatory standards
• Experience working with conduct databases or case tracking systems
Licensure / Certification (If Applicable)
• Training in conduct administration is strongly preferred, CLERY & Title IX Certification/training.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:
Education
• Doctoral degree (EdD, PhD, or DCJ-related leadership discipline)
Experience
• 7+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in student conduct or accountability offices
• Experience managing conduct programs at public institutions or systems within the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Demonstrated experience with:
• Behavioral Intervention/CARE Team/TAT models
• Restorative justice or accountability education programming
• Large-scale conduct data analytics and trend forecasting
Professional engagement with organizations such as:
• ASCA (Association for Student Conduct Administration)
• NASPA / ACPA-related conduct or compliance communities
• Clery certification/training
• Title IX certification/training

Additional Considerations

• Federal and state compliance (FERPA, Clery & Title IX compliance collaboration

• Strategic program development and assessment
• Risk identification and behavioral threat awareness referrals to TAT/CARE Team collaboration)

• Investigative interviewing and documentation standards
• Conflict resolution and restorative practices application
• Training development and facilitation for campus stakeholders (students and faculty/staff hearing boards)

• Trauma-informed and student-development-centered practice
• High-level written and verbal communication
