Position Summary
Join a Passionate Youth Hockey Program! We are dedicated to growing the game and developing young athletes from 8U through 18U. As we continue to strengthen and broaden the program, we are seeking a Player & Coach Development Coordinator to oversee the Competitive Hockey Program. This individual will manage and oversee all aspects of the 9 competitive hockey teams the association will sponsor in 2025-2026.
This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.
Essential Functions
- Be part of a growing, community-focused hockey program at the University of Denver.
- Help develop young athletes in a structured, supportive and competitive environment.
- Work with a passionate hockey community committed to making the game accessible and fun for all skill levels.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Oversee and support the coaching staff for nine competitive hockey teams - 10U thru 14U.
- Recruit, mentor, and support coaches to ensure a consistent coaching philosophy.
- Ensure coach certification compliance, mentoring, and professional development.
- Develop, review and implement structured training programs and practice plans for all age groups.
- Act as a key point of contact for parents, players and association stakeholders fostering positive relationships.
- Design and lead on-ice skills training and practice planning to maximize player development.
- Lead and manage player evaluations and tryouts to ensure fair and competitive team placements.
- Enhance player retention and recruitment strategies to support program growth.
- Ensure compliance with USA Hockey and league regulations for player and coach development.
- Provide updates to the appropriate University and association staff on hockey operations and player development.
- Provide additional coaching support at games or practices as needed to ensure continuity in player and coach development.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive hockey coaching & leadership experience (USA Hockey Level 4+ preferred).
- Experience managing a youth hockey program is preferred.
- Strong mentorship and leadership skills to guide coaches and players.
- Experience with player evaluations, recruiting, fundraising and development programs.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team-building skills.
- Expert knowledge of USA Hockey ADM model and development pathways.
Work Schedule
Seasonal work from August thru March – Approximately 15-20 hours per week at peak times.

Hourly Range
The hourly range for the position is $26.00 - $28.00.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
