The company has an R&D team with an established track record in the pharmaceutical development of small molecule protease inhibitors, world-leading expertise in the role of plasma kallikrein in disease, and a management team with the capability to bring small molecules through the clinic to commercialization. KalVista now seeks a Director/Sr. Director, US Marketing (Launch Lead), which is critical to the organization's mission as it prepares to commercialize sebetralstat, a novel, oral plasma kallikrein inhibitor in Phase 3 development for the on-demand treatment of HAE attacks. We anticipate data from the Phase 3 trial in early 2024 and an NDA filing in the first half of 2024.

This newly designed role within KalVista reports to the Vice President, U.S. Sales and Marketing, leading all HCP initiatives as well as the cross-functional launch planning team. The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced, growing organization, with a goal of exceeding quality expectations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the cross-functional launch team, with significant input in developing Launch Documents including TPP and Label. 
  • Lead HCP personal and peer-to-peer marketing 
  • Establish and implement the product positioning, implement disease state and branded campaigns and messaging, develop, and execute personal and non-personal branded and disease state tactics
  • Manage interactions with opinion leaders, lead market insight gathering through advisory boards, and build HCP speaker bureau; includes KOL identification and development
  • Partner cross-functionally on Strategic Planning and campaign creation
  • Work with cross-functional teams to analyze customer brand/competitive product utilization, and market trends to prepare for product launch 
  • Develop and refine HCP segmentation and targeting
  • Develop detailed and effective communication plans, including internal and external messaging, as well as presence at key congresses. 
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, coaching and developing next generation of leaders, seen as a leader and mentor outside of their team. Expect to have 1-2 direct reports, but act as a peer leader across marketing team
  • Effectively manage key agencies as necessary to accomplish the creation of the Brand and market development to support a successful launch. 
  • Align with Sales leadership on Sales Representative directives, POA, training ensuring readiness for launch
  • Demonstrated understanding of the legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements for pre- and post-approval activities and ability to model expected behavior for the team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA is strongly preferred
  • Strong experience in leading launche(s) as a marketer, preferably in rare disease
  • 10 years of relevant marketing experience: 
  • At least 5 years of leading HCP marketing, preferably in rare disease
  • Prior experience in commercial functions beyond marketing (e.g., Sales, Market Access, Commercial Operations) is a plus 
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to take a creative approach to best meet the needs of both customers and KalVista 
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence across teams 
  • Strong presentation skills, ability to present to diverse stakeholders including: patients, healthcare professionals, senior leaders and board members 
  • Previous experience working in a biotech start-up is preferred 
  • 25%+ travel anticipated
