A newly created opportunity has been developed within our Asset Management group for a Principal Electrical Engineer to provide leadership on electrical and reliability engineering for all aspects of our refinery power system (HV) and utility stations, regionally. Working across our utilities network, Wagerup, Pinjarra and Kwinana, your main objective will be to maintain and manage critical power system infrastructure ensuring the power stations are reliable for the essential provision to our refineries.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Guiding a team of Senior Electrical Engineers across Alcoa’s power plants for all aspects of High Voltage (HV) Power Systems (generation and distribution) maintenance and reliability engineering.
Influencing and leveraging opportunities across all WA locations to establish Maintenance and Engineering standards and Best Practice for the consistent and stable operation of Power Systems (HV).
Providing expert Engineering and Maintenance input/analysis into Power Systems (HV) Asset performance, management, and optimisation (strategies and roadmaps) at an organisational and site level.
Providing SME input to the WA Utility Group Asset Management Capital planning process.
Deploying best practice reliability frameworks, measures, tools and systems to support optimising asset management and performance across WA Utility Stations.
Leading the development of Power Systems (HV) Reliability and Maintenance strategies with Reliability & Maintenance Engineers, WA Utility Maintenance Manager, and Utilities Station’s leadership teams.
Working closely with location’s Reliability and Engineering Systems and Asset Management CoE functional teams to provide expert-level Maintenance and Engineering technical knowledge, skills and experience to support best practice application of these capabilities to all aspects of asset management.
Providing ultimate leadership on HV Switching Level 3 to all WA Utility locations.
Assisting location’s Powerhouse Managers, Site leadership and Principal Mechanical Engineer to identify opportunities to enhance the LTSP and take responsibility to ensure LTSPs are aligned with Regional & Global standards, properly prioritised, and resourced.
Beinging a key member of the Alcoa-Alinta Steering Committee.

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering with significant relevant industry experience .
Experience of working within an Electrical engineering leadership role is desirable.
Collaborative leadership style with an ability to coach and develop others.
Strong influencing skills building relationships across multiple locations and functions.
Detailed knowledge and expertise in Power Generation.
Experience in developing reliability strategies, frameworks and roadmaps.
Ability to influence and work collaboratively with peers, stakeholders and customers.
Refining or Smelting reliability experience would be advantageous.
Experience on HV Switching would be desirable but not essential.
