Summarized Purpose:
Directs the oversight of investigator payments by supervising Site Payment Project Managers and handling end-to-end Site Payment tasks. Ensures the completion of set-up, processing, reconciliation, and reporting for all site payments resulting from subject activities. Responsible for achieving breakthroughs and budgets and adhering to departmental and study-specific procedures. Addresses moderate to complex internal and external payment concerns and collaborates effectively across PPD functions to ensure timely and accurate payments. May be fully dedicated to specific priorities such as strategic partners, site networks, Therapeutic Unit, or based on department priorities. Collaborates with other departments such as Project Delivery and Clinical in a cross-functional manner and communicates with DevOps and BPLs as required.

Essential Functions
- Provides effective risk management for assigned projects to achieve study or portfolio objectives.
- Ensures that Site Payment Project Managers comprehend and adhere to study-level benchmarks, essential metrics, timelines, and other mutually accepted outcomes.
- Ensures individual project targets meet contracted requirements and departmental benchmarks and critical metrics.
- Ensures projects are well-equipped to successfully implement objectives and promptly brings up any risks.
- Provides services in accordance with departmental and corporate SOPs.
- Manages across global locations to address questions, resolve critical issues, and ensure timely payments.
- Uses study-level reports to assess team performance and implements immediate measures as needed.
- Generates reports for both internal and external entities, outlining payment status, reconciliations, transparency regulations, and additional details.
- Attends CIRMs and quickly addresses advanced actions to resolution.
- Ensures direct reports reach utilization targets.
- Leads managers and teams by establishing a challenging, motivating, and collaborative work environment.
- Develops and maintains a performance culture by crafting succession plans, offering training, and recognizing top achievers.
Policy & Strategy
Establishes operational policies and procedures that impact departments and subordinate work units. Deciphers company-wide policies and procedures. Develops budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
Freedom to Act
Tasks are centered on reaching set targets. Performance is assessed by how well objectives and timelines are met within the organization.
Liaison
Frequently liaises with internal and external leadership and senior-level customers to discuss projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and contract clarifications. Conducts briefings and technical sessions for both internal and external parties.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Prior work history demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and capabilities for the role (equivalent to 10+ years). Familiarity with clinical drug development and the clinical trials process in the pharmaceutical and/or CRO sector is advantageous.
- 5+ years of management responsibility.
- Proven leadership skills.
Qualifications and Proficiencies:
- Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end clinical trial payment processes, including financial processes of accounts payable and escrow accruals.
- Capable of analyzing data to anticipate and mitigate risk.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to influence and persuade.
- Effective collaborative relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated strong leadership style, with concise, well-organized communication skills.
- Capable of motivating direct reports and subordinates to reach team objectives.
- In-depth understanding of managing project budgets and metrics.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Capable of working independently.
- Capable of supervising, evaluating, leading, engaging, motivating, and mentoring departmental personnel.
- Capable of delegating tasks and facilitating the completion of assignments.
- Proven client management skills, including de-escalation
