WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Division of Fleet Management Services is looking for a Fleet Safety/Environmental Compliance/Facility Coordination Manager. The employee will be responsible for managing the Safety, Training and Security Section of the Division of Fleet Management Services (DFMS) in the Department of General Services. This position provides management, oversight and leadership in the areas of Workplace Safety, Environmental Compliance, Facility Maintenance, Facility Project Safety Coordination, Vehicle Warranty Recovery, and Equipment and Maintenance Procurement/Contract Management, in support of the Division’s mission ensuring compliance with Federal, State and County regulations and requirements. These are highly complex roles as DFMS is a 24/7 operation and has three main worksite locations (Rockville, Silver Spring and Kensington), along with multiple depots and fuel sites, and is comprised of over 200 employees. DFMS also houses the nation’s largest transit depot microgrid at a county bus facility, marking a transformative milestone in the County’s transition to a zero-emissions public transportation system. The state-of-the-art project integrates solar power, battery storage, and advanced electric bus charging infrastructure—with future plans for hydrogen production—to deliver clean, reliable energy for the Ride On fleet.
Examples of duties
The core work of the position requires substantive knowledge of industrial function(s) performed in the facilities occupied by the Division of Fleet Management Services(including automotive equipment maintenance and repair), and the specialized equipment used (including lifts, hoists, air compressors and other industrial equipment used in the maintenance and repair of cars, trucks, buses and heavy equipment powered by gas, diesel or alternative fuels) to effectively represent the interests of the facility user(s). This position will work collaboratively with the Departmental Safety Manager to ensure that all safety issues are addressed in accordance with departmental procedures.
Environmental Compliance, Facility Maintenance, and Facility Project Safety Coordination
