JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

The Patient Care Coordinator provides assistance to the clinical practice of the student doctors working in Oral Diagnosis (OD) to ensure they have the adequate number of clinical experiences required to be competent general dental practitioners. In addition, to meet professional obligations to our patients, this position, through cooperation with students, other schedulers, Oral Diagnosis Clinic Director and Administrative Coordinator, and administration, ensures patients on the waitlist are scheduled with students for Oral Diagnosis for timely visits.

1. Schedules OD patient visits for third and fourth-year student doctors in the UT College of Dentistry.
2. Manages the patient waitlist assignments for students and block appointments.
3. Assists and advises patients with balance or OD appointment issues.
4. Confirms OD appointments and assists patients with the Engage onboarding process.
5. Reviews data entry for patient intake to ensure it is complete.
6. Creates pre-screen charts and assigns prescreen patients to students.
7. Answers phone calls to provide information to patients.
8. Collaborates with the patient advocate to improve patient relations.
9. Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

EDUCATION:

 High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE:

 Two (2) years of administrative experience; OR Associate’s Degree in lieu of experience. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Skill in managing patient waitlists.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends.
