Position Overview
The postdoctoral research associate will work closely with the Ko Research Group to develop novel theories and algorithms for studying chemical processes in complex condensed-phase systems, e.g., aqueous solutions, semiconductor interfaces, and polymers. These complex condensed-phase systems will be treated using first-principles machine-learning trained using the van der Waals corrected hybrid density functional theory (DFT) enabled SeA approach [J. Chem. Theory Comput. 19, 4182 (2023)].
The SeA approach is an accurate and efficient high-throughput hybrid DFT engine for finite-gap systems containing thousands of atoms using the Quantum ESPRESSO (QE) package. We expect this position to have the opportunity to work on the high-performance computing (HPC) development of SeA (in collaboration with the DiStasio research group at Cornell University) and the broader QE package. We also expect this position to offer many other collaborative experiences.
The postdoctoral researcher will also instruct and mentor graduate and undergraduate students involved in the research, and contribute to writing proposals and papers.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or related fields
• Experience in performing condensed-phase electronic structure calculations and molecular dynamics simulations
• Strong communication skills in English
• Familiarity with operating HPC clusters (e.g., bash, Python)
Preferred Qualifications
• HPC programming skills (e.g., modern Fortran or C/C++)
• Parallel programming skills (e.g., OpenMP, MPI, OPENACC, CUDA)
• Familiarity with numerical linear algebra
Required License/Registration/Certifications
