About Our Opportunity

 

Under the general supervision of the Regional Manager, the Motor Vehicle Inspector 2 (Compliance Station Inspector) interacts with the commercial trucking industry with the view of ensuring the safety of all road users and protecting the highway infrastructure of Nova Scotia.

 

Primary Accountabilities

 

 

The Compliance Station Inspector is expected to verify vehicle compliance with the Motor Vehicle Act and any Regulations that deal with commercial vehicles. They also conduct vehicle mechanical and document inspections, under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance guidelines. Applicants must be physically able to check commercial vehicles and loads for safety and mechanical fitness.  Also, as a Special Constable, this position ensures compliance with National Safety Code requirements and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Standards.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

High School Diploma or equivalent plus seven years of related experience in commercial transportation, vehicle repair or vehicle inspection is required; or appropriate accreditation such as Red Seal endorsements in truck/bus transport repair and/or automobil
